BOARD BY DESIGN
Located in the Roaring Fork Valley of Western Colorado, Board by Design creates timeless furniture, accessories, fine art, and curated spaces. Our distinctive approach is modern, playful, innovative, and highly functional, embracing concepts of duality by juxtaposing artistic ingenuity with modern sensibility.
We proudly collaborate with individuals, architects, and interior designers on a diverse range of projects, from private residences to public spaces and beyond. Each partnership fuels our creativity and dedication to crafting unique solutions.
Case Study
Woody Creek artist Isa Catto needed more space for her growing fine art and product development business. Working closely with the artist, we transformed the existing upstairs barn studio into a more spacious environment by completely renovating the untouched lower level. Our goal was to establish a seamless connection between the new and old spaces, ensuring it felt inherently cohesive. The open steel staircase, complemented by large windows and garage doors on either side, flooded the area with natural light while inviting the surrounding landscape in. Alongside the renovation, we designed and crafted functional fixtures, including worktables, bookshelves, and display units, to enhance both creativity and workflow.
Use My Imagination
Gallery Exhibition | Anderson Ranch Art Center, Snowmass Colorado
January 7 - March 27, 2026
The Patton-Malott Gallery is presently showing an all-new collection titled “Use My Imagination” by Brad Reed Nelson, with contributions from other talented friends and artists. In his new collection, Nelson plays on the idea of the recontextualized readymade: in this case, pallets, cinderblocks, and traffic cones that are so often overlooked. Each piece invites a fresh perspective, celebrating the beauty of transformation and creativity in everyday objects.
Please join us for the gallery reception on January 22 from 5-6 pm.

Case Study
A “Pile of Beauty” is a sculpture relating to the Town of Carbondale and the Roaring Fork Valley through the collective commitment to environmental awareness. Brad’s intention is to bring the “wooden” pallet into permanence and compel the viewer to contemplate our natural resources and the awareness with which we use, reuse and re-purpose these resources.
A “Pile of Beauty” is constructed from individual steel, line drawn pallets - aka “wooden” pallets found in the shipping and transportation of all common goods. Each “wooden” pallet is a different color based on the rich indigenous colors found in the Roaring Fork Valley. Atop the sculpture is a view finder that points to the peak of Mount Sopris, symbolizing that the mountain is the heart of the town, and because it is a palpable representation of the natural world.
We are so grateful to the Carbondale Arts for selecting us to be part of those few talented artists chosen to give a first impression of Carbondale CO.
